OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID LEVEL 3 ATTENDANT

Nhwelmen Construction is currently seeking qualified Occupational First Aid Level 3 (OFA3) Attendant to join our team.  The OFA 3 Attendant is responsible for delivering prompt and effective first aid to workers on-site and supporting overall health and safety practices. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid and emergency care in accordance with OFA Level 3 training and WorkSafeBC guidelines
  • Maintain and regularly inspect first aid room, equipment (stretcher, AED, oxygen, etc.), and supplies
  • Accurately document all injuries, incidents, and treatments using approved forms (e.g., Form 7, incident reports)
  • Assist in development and implementation of emergency response procedures
  • Act as a first responder during workplace emergencies, including site evacuations
  • Coordinate with supervisors, safety personnel, and external emergency services when necessary
  • Monitor and support workers recovering from injuries (under medical directive, if applicable)
  • Perform routine checks and restocking of first aid supplies
  • Participate in site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Safety Advisor and management team

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 3 certificate (WorkSafeBC recognized)
  • Current CPR-C and AED certification
  • Physically fit and able to lift, bend, and assist in moving injured individuals
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Previous experience in industrial or construction environments
  • Working knowledge of WorkSafe regulations and reporting procedures
  • Additional safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, H2S Alive, CSTS) are an asset
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively in high-stress situations
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Willingness to work extended shifts  or long hours on remote project sites
  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract and access to reliable transportation

Location: This position is based out of the Kamloops / Thompson area of British Columbia. This is not a camp position; employees provide their own transportation to/from the job site.
