SITE SUPERVISOR

Nhwelmen Construction is currently seeking experienced Supervisors to join our growing team. Supervisors work closely with the Superintendent to oversee and manage all aspects of project execution. This position plays a key leadership role in driving productivity, enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining effective site operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily tasks based on project priorities, plans and schedule.
  • Supervise all crew members, subcontractors and equipment usage on site.
  • Communicate regularly with the Superintendent regarding project progress, needs and performance.
  • Lead, support and implement safety, environmental and quality guidelines.
  • Train, mentor and support field personnel to ensure skill development and performance.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized job site at all times.
  • Verify worker competencies and arrange training as needed.
  • Identify and resolve risks, conflicts, and on-site challenges in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports pertaining to project status and progress.
  • Lead and participate in daily Tailgates, ToolBox Talks, and other project related meetings.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.
  • Collaborate with managers, engineers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs.
  • Set clear performance expectations, task assignments, and deadlines for workers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual performance requirements.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure alignment with plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Track and document scope changes and schedule impacts via written change orders.
  • Conduct daily look-ahead to anticipate and mitigate potential issues.
  • Review daily equipment inspection reports and follow up on concerns.
  • Verify accuracy of timecards
  • Ensure crew compliance with equipment maintenance, cleanliness standards, and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of  mandatory online Orientation and Indoctrination training and certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation and a clean Drivers Abstract.
  • Mine Supervisor Certification and Level 1 OFA (First Aid); Shiftboss Certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of BC Mines Act, WorkSafe BC regulations, and industry safety standards.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction management with a thorough knowledge of construction processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, specifications, and quality control practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of heavy civil construction equipment and operations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering or related field preferred
  • Physically fit with the ability to work outdoors in all weather and lift up to 50lbs.

Location: This position is based out of the Kamloops / Thompson area of British Columbia. This is not a camp position; employees provide their own transportation to/from the job site.
