Project Manager – Heavy Civil
Nhwelmen Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to join our team. This position is based out of the Kamloops / Thompson area in British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:
- Anticipate project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delay and ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare and issue project deliverables in accordance with contract requirements.
- Develop and monitor resource requirements, coordinating with personnel across divisions to optimize efficiency.
- Provide positive safety and quality leadership throughout the duration of the project.
- Work closely with the Superintendent to monitor financial aspects of the contract to protect interests of all parties.
- Monitor construction progress and ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance to site personnel and proactively resolve project challenges.
- Review and report on project cost variances, providing feedback to project teams as appropriate.
- Demonstrate leadership in health, safety and environmental (HSE) practices.
- Maintain working knowledge of HSE regulations and ensure their application on site.
- Assist in the development and execution of the construction schedule with the Superintendent.
- Evaluate workmanship and ensure compliance with the company Quality Management program.
- Manage material orders, confirm receipt, and coordinate equipment returns.
- Maintain accurate daily reports documenting progress, inspections, and other relevant information.
- Complete daily online reporting using app-based programs.
- Identify and solve constructability issues, applying innovative solutions to project planning.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of project management experience in heavy civil construction
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Technology
- Strong knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling and safety regulations
- Ability to take on unique challenges daily, with the responsibility of keeping a project on schedule and in budget
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel to out-of-town project sites as needed
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC Health & Safety legislation and regulations
- Ability to complete online orientations and digital training requirements as needed
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
Location: This position will be based out of the Kamloops / Thompson area of British Columbia. This is not a camp position.
